British motor industry

The British motor industry is known for exclusive brands such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and the iconic Mini. British cars have always had consistent representation in auto racing. In recent times, and particularly since the late 1980s, the British automotive industry, especially in the car sector, has with the exception of smaller marques become largely foreign-owned. Rights to some brands, such as Austin, which have been discontinued, are also owned by foreign companies notably, BMW, TATA and Nanjing Automotive.
